Tamara Smiley Hamilton is an award winning toastmaster residing in Reston, VA. Her stories reflect her socialization during the Civil Rights Movement and her eyewitness to the Watts Rebellion of 1965. She is a world traveler and has lived in Germany for seven years. The spoken word is her life blood. She has taught poetry and language arts to inmates at the California Institute for Men in Chico, CA and to middle school and college students in Germany and California. She holds a Master degree in African Studies and Research with an emphasis in literature and the oral tradition. She believes that our stories can be a healing balm in a complex world.
