Hey there, thanks for stopping by. I’m VASA board member Wayne Jordan, and I’d like to speak with you for a couple of minutes about storytelling. Not my storytelling, but your storytelling.

American Poet Laureate Maya Angelou once said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Now, it’s not the story itself that’s agonizing. It’s holding it in that’s troublesome. Our stories need to be told. They’re our legacy. They are what connect us to each other and to future generations.

So, what’s your untold story? When will you tell it? How will you tell it? The Virginia Storytelling Alliance exists to help you find your voice and tell your stories effectively.

VASA is Virginia’s community of storytellers and listeners. We connect, support, and exchange information among storytellers and promote the art of storytelling throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Our ranks include professionals, hobbyists, and storytelling enthusiasts—and, not all of us live in Virginia. We have members from Maryland, Florida, North Carolina, Michigan, Georgia—we’ve had folks attend online events from as far away as India. You don’t have to live in Virginia to be a member or attend our events.

By joining us in the Virginia Storytelling Alliance, established and aspiring storytellers can gain valuable professional development opportunities, performance experience, feedback, mentorship, and a sense of community. Not all members are performing storytellers; some come just for fellowship and to delight in the stories of others.
